As with all reclaimed barn wood furniture, you may find an occasional knot or nail hole in the wood. You have the option to fill these holes in the seat with a clear epoxy or leave as is. The clear epoxy blends in nicely and creates a smooth finish across the seat's surface. Leaving the holes exposed enhances the rustic nature of the chair.
All wood used on this barn wood side chair is 100% reclaimed solid oak barn wood from felled barns sourced locally throughout Eastern Ohio and the Northeast.
All reclaimed lumber is made usable for furniture by undergoing a stringent cleaning and drying process which includes locating and removing any nails with a metal detector and kiln drying to exterminate any insects and their eggs. Kiln drying also brings down the moisture content to roughly 7% which minimizes shrinking and warping later on.
A smooth, protective catalyzed varnish with low sheen finish seals and protects the chair for years to come.
