Fill The Knot Holes

As with all reclaimed barn wood furniture, you may find an occasional knot or nail hole in the wood. You have the option to fill these holes in the seat with a clear epoxy or leave as is. The clear epoxy blends in nicely and creates a smooth finish across the seat's surface. Leaving the holes exposed enhances the rustic nature of the piece.

Amish Quality Chair Construction

  • Mortise and tenon joinery locks all critical joints together. Wooden tenons fit snugly inside the mortise opening and the joint is locked together when the final pieces of the chair are assembled, providing the strongest joint that can be used.
  • In addition to the mortise and tenon joints, corner blocking reinforced with metal screws and glue firmly secure the legs and seat together
  • All wooden seats are scooped out for added comfort while sitting for long periods
  • Fabric and leather upholstery materials are hand stretched over the seat cushioning which is top quality, long lasting foam cushioning

All wood used on this barn wood arm chair is 100% reclaimed solid oak barn wood from felled barns sourced locally throughout Eastern Ohio and the Northeast.

All reclaimed lumber is made usable for furniture by undergoing a stringent cleaning and drying process which includes locating and removing any nails with a metal detector and kiln drying to exterminate any insects and their eggs. Kiln drying also brings down the moisture content to roughly 7% which minimizes shrinking and warping later on.

A smooth, protective catalyzed varnish with low sheen finish seals and protects the chair for years to come.
