The ladderback chair style has been around for hundreds of years and originated in Europe during the Middle Ages. In those days the ladderback chair was made by luxury chair makers typically from Walnut wood with its characteristic spindle back supports in the chair back. Very often chairs in this time period featured seats woven from straw. This type of chair design is still quite popular today and works nicely with a whole range of design styles.

High Quality Amish Chair Construction
- All wood used on this chair is 100% reclaimed solid oak barnwood from felled barns across the eastern US.
- All lumber is made usable for furniture by undergoing a thorough cleaning and drying process which includes locating and removing any nails with a metal detector and kiln drying to exterminate any insects and their eggs. Kiln drying also brings down the moisture content to roughly 7% which minimizes shrinking and warping.
- A smooth, protective catalyzed varnish with low sheen finish seals and protects the wooden stool parts for years to come.
