This trestle table is constructed using the same techniques the pioneers used in their furniture building. The two trestles are supported with a stretcher beam that uses a tenon to lock the beam into each trestle. Did you know that the trestle-style table is also symbolically associated with hospitality?

The trestle style actually dates back all the way to Medieval times and is the oldest known documented table style. They are well known for their strong and sturdy appearance and beg to be used for large feasts and celebrations.

We offer many different styles of trestle tables, some made of solid reclaimed barnwood and others made from premium virgin hardwood. Take a look at the Barclay Dining Collection and consider making it a part of your family traditions.

About Our Catalyzed Varnish

A low-sheen, catalyzed conversion varnish is used on this Barclay Trestle Table as on all of our furniture. It is a protective topcoat used to achieve long-lasting durability of the piece. The catalyzed varnish provides the ultimate finish that is resistant to scratches, water stains and heat damage. It is easy to clean and stays looking great for a long, long time.

Solid Vs. Extendable Tables

The Barclay Barnwood Table is available as either a SOLID or EXTENDABLE table in varying sizes. Table top boards on Solid Tables run the long way while table-top boards on Extendable Tables run the short way to allow for separation.

Each EXTENDABLE table is supplied with a Geared Equalizer Sliding Mechanism. It is designed to work specifically with all trestle-base and pedestal-base tables. As you open the table up from one end, the opposite end equally opens up to allow for placement of the extender leaves. The gears make the process practically effortless. Comes standard with each of our EXTENDABLE tables.

Optional Table Heights

The Barclay Barnwood Dining Table is available in either the standard 30" table height as shown or optional 36" counter height (aka pub height) or 42" bar height.

Fill The Knot Holes

As with all reclaimed barnwood furniture, there may be occasional knot or nail holes in the wood. You have the option to fill these holes with a clear epoxy or leave as is. The clear epoxy blends in nicely and creates a smooth finish across the wood's surface. Leaving the holes exposed enhances the rustic nature of the piece.

Excellent Quality Reclaimed Barnwood Table Construction

All wood used on this table is 100% reclaimed solid oak barnwood from felled barns across the eastern US.

All lumber is made usable for furniture by undergoing a thorough cleaning and drying process which includes locating and removing any nails with a metal detector and kiln drying to exterminate any insects and their eggs. Kiln drying also brings down the moisture content to roughly 7% which minimizes shrinking and warping later on.

A smooth, protective catalyzed varnish with low sheen finish seals and protects the trestle table for years to come.
